Wolf was first mentioned on Tyler's formspring as early as 2010, saying that he would have an album titled Wolf. The themes of Wolf range from "struggles with women, not handling the absence of his father to misunderstandings about his grandmother's death, and the beautiful nightmare known as fame." In an interview with SPIN magazine, Tyler expressed wanting to shift away from the themes of his previous albums stating, The production has been said by Tyler that it'll sound similar to the neo-jazz band, BADBADNOTGOOD, which he (and Earl as well) have collaborated with in the past. Content ĭuring August of 2011, Tyler mentioned that the album will contain less rapping than Goblin and Bastard. This was due to Tyler's shifting interests in music, straying from rap. The story heard in Wolf will be fully revealed with Wolf (movie). From what the album reveals, it revolves around 3 main characters Wolf, Sam, and Salem. The content of Wolf was different than the previous entries, now less violent and focuses on themes relating to his fame, girls, and more. The album was released on April 2, 2013, by Odd Future Records and RED Distribution under Sony Music Entertainment. Wolf is the third entry onto Tyler, The Creator's main discography of albums.
